CONTRIBUTE A WRITTEN STORY TO THE MEANINGFUL WORK PROJECT:
To frame written stories as a contributor writing your own story for the Meaningful Work Project, include the following:
Employment over time: Where did you start, where are you now? Where have you have worked, for how long, when (years)? What does/did your work entail? How do you feel about your work trajectory? Are you, or have you, achieved goals you set out? Is there anything notable about your experience in terms of feeling like you’ve struggled, or acknowledging that you’ve been comfortable, or privileged (in terms of access to material items, experiences, and things that go above the basics of survival—and whether you feel you’ve had an extra share, or have fallen short from what was expected or hoped for)? Do you feel satisfied? Do you feel like what you've done in your career has held personal meaning or some kind of purpose? What is the most and least satisfying work you've done? What is the most and least meaningful work you've done? How do you define 'meaning' and 'purpose' as related to work?
Growing up (>18) pre-2008 /older generations down to millennials: What did your parents or guardians (if applicable) do when you were growing up? Did you feel rich, poor, comfortable? What, if any, property did you live in (house, apartment, or elsewhere)? Was it spacious, did you have comforts, luxuries? Did you have mostly new clothes/items, hand-me-downs, used items (a mix)? Did you have insurance through the state or through your parents? Assistance necessary in the form of food stamps? Did you have vacations—via car, bus, train, plane? Did they have a car, multiple cars, or get around by public transit? Do you recall money being talked about, argued about, or taken for granted? How often were your parents able to afford basic needs versus your wants? Were things consistent, or did they change over time? Did you ever experience unusual hardship or good times due to a change in situation?
